All You Need To Know About Menopause
And How To Treat Challenging Symptoms
OK, first things first - it's important to understand what menopause is and what you can do to find relief from uncomfortable symptoms.
Menopause is defined as the absence of a menstrual period for at least 12 months. The age at which this occurs differs from woman to woman but the average age is around the age of 51. This period of time in a woman's life may be experienced with symptoms that can disturb her sleep, as well as affect energy and mood. These symptoms typically vary from woman to woman and can be experienced before the onset of menopause.
Before and during menopause, the ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone which is what causes all of the uncomfortable symptoms associated with menopause. These lower hormone levels also put a woman at a higher risk for other health conditions. The lower levels of estrogen increases the risk of heart disease. It also affects the amount of calcium in the bones which increases the risk for developing osteoporosis.
The symptoms of menopause can have a serious impact on a woman's life and her daily functioning. While treatment options such as Hormone Replacement Therapy are available, these often come with their own risks. As clinical studies suggest, finding a natural supplement containing key ingredients is an alternative way to dealing with menopause symptoms without unwanted side effects.
What Are The Symptoms Of Menopause?
The symptoms of menopause can start before a woman actually reaches menopause and they can make daily functioning difficult. Women's bodies going through menopause react differently to symptoms during the day and night.
The most common symptom of menopause is hot flashes. Hot flashes occur when you feel a sudden increase in your body temperature and your skin and face may turn red and you may also break out in a sweat. Once it passes, you may feel cold. Other symptoms include night sweats, irritability, mood swings, vaginal dryness, loss of libido, problems sleeping, thinning hair, and dry skin. These symptoms vary from woman to woman.
What Are The Different Stages Of Menopause?
Menopause is the dreaded time in a woman's life that comes with a host of uncomfortable symptoms. These symptoms can be experienced before and after menopause hits.
If symptoms present themselves, it is important that you visit your doctor as soon as possible as early intervention can assist in treating symptoms more effectively.
Here, we list the three main stages a woman goes through during her menopause years:
- ●Perimenopause - These are the years before menopause. It usually lasts anywhere from 3 to 5 years and generally starts when a woman is in her late 40s. During this stage, your periods will become more irregular but they won't have stopped completely. It is important to note that you can still become pregnant during this stage. You may experience other symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, vaginal dryness, and insomnia.
- ●Menopause - This stage marks when the function of a woman's ovaries ceases with the absence of menstrual periods which happens around the age of 51. A woman begin menopause when they you have gone a full year without a period. Every woman will experience menopause differently, but hot flashes, insomnia, and other symptoms are common during this stage.
- ●Postmenopause - This stage begins when you have gone a full 12 months without a period and you will be in this stage for the rest of your life. During this stage, women often have an increased risk for certain health conditions such as heart disease and osteoporosis. Be aware that any vaginal bleeding you may experience after going a full year without a period is not normal and you should speak to your doctor.
What's The Science Behind Menopause Supplements?
And Do They Really Work?
Natural dietary menopause supplements are generally safe to take and are being favored more and more over prescription medication and other medical treatments, which can often leave nasty side effects in their tracks. Specific key ingredients have been shown to help reduce the symptoms associated with menopause.
The problem is when manufacturers don't pay attention to the research and produce ineffective formulas that simply will not get the results you are looking for. Always check the label and look for pure, natural ingredients backed by clinical studies and research. Synthetically grown ingredients in a lab and low amounts of key natural ingredients in a product will essentially make a menopause supplement ineffective.
Key ingredients that have been identified as being helpful in the treatment of menopause symptoms include Protykin®, Black Cohosh, Passionflower, and Valerian Root to name but a few. A recent study was published which showed Black Cohosh to be an effective ingredient for reducing menopause symptoms naturally. Details can be found on our clinical study page.
This study was conducted on 84 early postmenopausal women in Tehran, Iran. The women were divided into two groups, one receiving a placebo and the other group receiving a Black Cohosh treatment. The women were evaluated after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment where the group taking the Black Cohosh showed a significant improvement in their menopause symptoms.
The use of natural herbal supplements including Black Cohosh, Protykin®, and other clinically-proven ingredients is an excellent long-term solution to ensure optimal menopause relief. But make sure you only buy a premium menopause supplement that will actually help and not just some powder in a pill.*
Studies: Natural Menopause Healthcare
Summary Of The Clinical Studies And Research
After menopause and natural treatments were discussed on TV by the world's most famous doctor, the sales of menopause supplements went through the roof. To be clear, he does not endorse any specific menopause supplements or products per se, but he does give some guidelines about natural methods of dealing with menopause symptoms.
Menopause is a stage of life that all women go through. The years before menopause until when menopause actually hits can last anywhere from 3 to 5 years and the symptoms experienced during this period of time can make life extremely difficult, both physically and mentally. Sleep can be affected as well as mood along with a host of other physical symptoms. Many studies have been carried out and published in a range of journals showing the benefits of certain natural key ingredients for managing the symptoms of menopause and making them easier to live with without the unwanted risks and side effects of other medical treatments.
Clinical Study: Black Cohosh For Menopause Symptoms
A clinical study was published in the journal Chinese Medicine which focused on a total of 84 early postmenopausal women in Tehran, Iran. Researchers designed the study to assess the effectiveness of Black Cohosh on both physical and mental menopause symptoms with the use of Greene climacteric scale (GCS) scores.
It was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with the participants divided into two groups. One group was given one tablet of Black Cohosh root extract a day and the other group was given a placebo. The study lasted for 8 weeks with scores being recorded at baseline, 4 weeks and 8 weeks.
The Results Of The Clinical Study
The results showed that the group receiving the Black Cohosh treatment showed a significant improvement in their symptoms, both physical and mental, compared to the control group at the 4 week and 8 week marks. On top of the positive results, no side effects were reported.
In summary, Black Cohosh shows promise for improving the symptoms of menopause, including physical, mental, and sexual symptoms. Natural health supplements that contain clinically proven natural ingredients, such as Black Cohosh, may be very effective in relieving uncomfortable menopause symptoms.
